I read the Age-Group chart and my child qualifies for U-8 but only
barely
- by three days. Can my child play U-6 to stay with their
friends?
Sorry
to say, but the answer is "no". California Youth Soccer Association
rules are quite specific, and we do follow them to the letter.
However, an exception can be made in special cases due to medical
reasons. A note from your child's doctor is required - to be
submitted to the SGS Board of Directors for consideration.
When do recreation team practices start?
The
first week of August.
When will the team practice be - and how many days per week?
It is
completely up to the team's Coach to determine when/where &
frequency of practices.
When will the games be played?
Saturday's, for 10 weeks - starting in September.
We have a "hand-me-down" uniform from older siblings. Is it
okay to use?
If it fits, and isn't
tattered, by all means re-use the jersey.
What is the difference between Recreational, Select, and Competition
Soccer?
CYSA has three divisions/levels of soccer
Division IV – Recreational Soccer : This represents
about 95% of Sierra Gold
Soccer Club’s players
Division III – Select Soccer: This represents
about 5% of Sierra Gold
Soccer Club’s players
Division I – Competition Soccer: Competition soccer
is its own club
Select soccer gives players a chance to experience a more ambitious
level of soccer than offered in the Recreation Program, and
introduce players to tournaments. Competition Soccer is the most
competitive and requires the most travel and potential more cost
than Recreational and Select Soccer
