Age Group Policy

SGSC Age Group Policy (Effective Fall 2026)

This policy applies to all recreational and competitive programs.

Players U12 and Younger (Fall 2026)

All players will be rostered in their age-appropriate division based on the August 1st

cutoff.

Exceptions:

1. August Birthday Automatic Exception - Players born in August may roster with

their school grade cohort without application to avoid the "trapped down"

scenario where they would play below their school grade level.

Advanced Player Play-Up (Application Required) - Players may apply to try out

with an older age group if they meet the following criteria:

1. Completed application submitted by club deadline (minimum 2 weeks

prior to tryouts)

2. 3. 4. Director of Coaching approval to try out with older age group

Evaluation by both age group coaches during tryouts

Parent acknowledgment of reduced playing time expectations

Players U13 and Older (Fall 2026)

Players currently rostered on U13+ teams as of Fall 2026 may remain with their current

age group for the duration of their time at SGSC.

This is a one-time grandfathering provision
